Product description

Brand:  Brown Jordan, USA www.brownjordan.com Designer:  Walter Lamb Design Connected ID: 1074

Little is known of Walter Lamb’s life or career. His legacy is the series of ‘Bronze and String” outdoor furniture he designed for the Brown Jordan Company out of Pasadena, California in the mid 1940’s. Just after World War II, in Hawaii, Lamb started making curved forms bronze and copper pieces culled form sunken naval ships in Pearl Harbor. The seats and backs were hand wrapped with cotton and cording also scavenged form the sunken ships.
Brown Jordan purchased the design patent for his series just after 1945 and once the supply of recycled materials had been depleted, began manufacturing Lamb’s designs to the same specifications. Lamb designs from this period have attained a remarkable beautiful patina and are praised by outdoor enthusiasts because the bronze leaves no marks on the surface as it age.
