The Eames sofa is the last piece of furniture produced by the Eames Office, which completed the design after Charles Eames died in 1978. It went into production in 1984 and has been manufactured by Herman Miller ever since.
Charles and Ray Eames designed the sofa to complement their plush soft pad chairs and the sleek chaise. The sofa takes its visual strenght from the interplay to supple leather, rich solid walnut, and brightly polished aluminium. Strong but unobtrusive legs give the distinct impression of cushions floating in air. Thanks to those ample cushions, everyone gets a luxurious seat, whether they're sitting in a waiting room or waiting in a sitting room. The last furniture design the Eames Office produced, this sofa has been in continuous production since 1984 and stands as a graceful reminder of the honest genius of the Eameses.
